Voice & Movement of the Actor – 5:00-6:00 pm
Mondays, February 15, 22, March 1, 8, 22, and 29, 2010
Grades 6-8
It’s all about the way we move and the way we speak. Acting is not merely defined by the lines we say but by the way we say them; it is not defined by the places we move onstage but by the way we move. In this class we will be exploring the way our bodies move and our voices work together in order to create believable characters.

Intro to Improv – 4:30-5:30 pm
Wednesdays, February 17 until March 17, 2010
Grades K-3
Improvisational theatre basics classes for children taught by 10 year improvisational professional theatre veteran Scott Pacitti of Actor’s Crib, Inc. and the Chuckleheads.
Through a combination of improvisational themed warm up exercises, short and long form form improvisational and theatre games, and scene work children are introduced to theatre. Improvisational theatre is not just fun and creatively fulfilling, but it also teaches invaluable “real world” lessons.
Does your child ...like to have fun ?...like to laugh ?...like to make others laugh ?...like to entertain others ?...like to use their imagination ?...like to make up stories ?...want to be an entertainer when they grow up ?...enjoy performing in shows ?...enjoy being on stage ? If they would answer yes to any or a majority of those questions, they would most certainly enjoy improvisational theatre basics classes. Classes are at RHCT’s new home- The Community Performance Center, 249 East Main Street, Rock Hill.

What exactly is meant by the term “triple threat” in the world of theatre? This class will focus on teaching you the skills needed to be exactly that, a real triple threat in Musical Theatre. In this class, you will be introduced to and explore the three performance areas that make up musical theatre: acting, singing, and dancing. We will work on basic acting and theatre skills, learn about singing with expression and power, and work on basic choreography for well-known musical numbers. We will show what we have learned in a showcase performance for family and friends on the last day of class. Classes are at RHCT’s new home- The Community Performance Center, 249 East Main Street.
