Rock Hill Community Theatre

Membership & Sponsorship

Membership has its perks!

RHCT is managed by a Board of Directors (elected by the membership) and 7 officers (elected by the Board) and a number committee chairpersons (appointed by the President with the approval of the Board). The Board, Officers and chairpersons are all volunteers who do what they do out of a love for theatre and a commitment to advancement of the arts in our community. Members of the Theatre are Patrons (contributors) and season ticket holders.

You can become a member of the Theatre for as little as $50, which purchases an "Anytime Pass" (season ticket) that will make you a member and admit you to all the shows coming up in the 2006/07 season. For $100 to $500 you can become a Patron, Sustaining Patron or Benefactor Patron with all of the associated privileges.

Frankly, very frankly, most of the benefits of becoming a member of RHCT have to do with the feeling you get deep inside from doing something  important to support the performing arts in Rock Hill and York County, i.e. helping us deliver on our mission statement (see above). There are other privileges and benefits, but this is the main one. Performing arts in general and theatre in particular are important to the economic development and cultural quality of our community. You only have to look to surrounding communities to see ample evidence of this. Few things in which we might invest our personal or tax dollars or our volunteer hours will result in a greater return on investment.

On a more tangible level, your minimum investment of $50 will get you one "Any Time Pass," which will get you and/or any family member into up to 6 shows (excluding dinner theatre events) during the coming season. You will also become a "member," which entitles you to participate in the governance of RHCT. You get to attend the Annual Meeting and elect Board members, who in turn, elect officers of the Theatre. In this regard, you represent the Rock Hill/York County community. As a member, you'll receive e-mail announcements of all upcoming productions, events, auditions, etc. You'll be listed as a member on our website and various printed materials, such as the playbills handed out at each performance. In other words, you'll be recognized a "friend of the performing arts" in our area. All of this for just $50...

For slightly more ($100 - $500), you can become a "patron" on one of several levels with additional privileges and benefits. Among these are additional any time passes, ads in playbills and prominent listings in various publications.

Most importantly, and you may consider this a benefit or not, as a member, you will be given an opportunity to participate, hands-on in real theatre. We need volunteers for almost everything from acting to building sets, to managing small children to sweeping the floors to mowing the lawn. It's a lot of work bring theatre to our community, but it's also a lot of fun. If you become a member, we'll ask but not insist that you get involved on levels other than financial.

Please get involved with theatre in South Carolina and Rock Hill - with your talent, your time and your money. We need all three, but we'll take whatever you have to give.
